I'm finally feeling close to 100%. Mono is not fun and as it turns out you CAN get it a second time.
Either way, I have been working during this time, albeit slowly. The past few days I've focused a lot on Ruby on Rails since I'm finally understanding it. Which makes working with it a lot more fun.
I completed the Ruby on Rails guide by Michael Hartl long ago, but it didn't help me to much. I never really understood what I was doing and eventually got lost altogether and ended up just copying and pasting code. So in the end while I completed it I had no true understanding of anything.
So I re subscribed to Lynda and have been going off of that. It has been awesome and has helped a lot. I feel confident In pretty much everything that has been gone over. EXCEPT I can never get mysql2 to work. Installed the gem fine I thought so when i tried
$rails s
Everything started up fine, then the next day comes around and everything is broken. So I said nope, and just went back to sqlite3.
I have also worked on the map project. I need to pick up the pace on this one and get it done soonish. I spent to long trying to figure out what I was going to do, and how I was going to do it. Everything I saw looked cool so I wanted to do something similar but this is one of those times I just had to say this is what I'm doing. and go with it. Or else I might not have gotten anywhere.
I haven't gotten anything into the computer yet and am still drawing, but I wanted to indicate that I've made at least some progress so I scanned in some sketches. One thing I think helped was figuring out what animal to use. The arctic fox is the only mammal native to the island so I was going to make him the focal point. I realized though that its a fox, pretty bland. That I should go after something more iconic, which Is why i settled on the Icelandic horse.
